1. Purpose of the canine database
CanisLattice connects canine identity, growth, pedigree, phenotype, health, breeding, and performance information so individual dogs can be understood in the context of their relatives and comparable dogs.
2. Factual dog information
Contributors may enter factual information they reasonably believe to be accurate, including names, registration identifiers, dates, sex, breed or breed mix, pedigree relationships, measurements, titles, testing results, breeder or kennel information, and other record facts.
When information is uncertain, estimated, historical, or supplied by a third party, use the available source, notes, verification, or reference-record fields rather than presenting uncertain information as personally verified fact.
3. Source and provenance
CanisLattice may retain information about who contributed a record, where a fact came from, and whether information is owner-confirmed, documented, imported, historical, or otherwise unverified. Provenance helps resolve conflicts without silently overwriting independently contributed data.
Where a source URL, registry, test provider, breeder record, veterinary record, or other citation is known, contributors should preserve that reference when practical.
4. Reference and unclaimed profiles
A reference profile may be created for a dog whose owner is not yet a CanisLattice user when the dog is needed to represent a pedigree, litter, breeding, or other legitimate relationship. Reference profiles should contain only information reasonably necessary to identify and connect the dog.
Reference profiles are community records, not ownership claims. The actual owner may request to claim or correct the record. CanisLattice may retain the original contributor and source history after a claim so provenance is not lost.
5. Duplicate records and conflicting information
Before creating a dog, contributors should search for an existing record. When duplicate records are found, CanisLattice may merge or reconcile them while preserving useful source history, pedigree links, measurements, and legitimate contributions.
Conflicting information may be reviewed using registration information, dates, pedigree relationships, contributor history, source documents, and other identifying evidence. No single contributor automatically controls independently sourced factual data.
6. Corrections and ownership disputes
Anyone who identifies a material error may submit a correction request. Owners may also request review of a reference profile or ownership claim. Reports should identify the dog and explain what is wrong; supporting source information should be included when available.
CanisLattice may correct clearly erroneous data, request more information, preserve disputed values as provenance, merge records, or decline a change when the available evidence does not support it.
7. Photos and copyrighted content
Upload only photos and other creative content you created, are authorized to use, or otherwise have a lawful right to provide. Do not copy photos from another website merely because they are visible there.
CanisLattice may remove or restrict material when a credible rights complaint is received. Removing a copyrighted photo does not require removal of independently supportable factual dog information.
8. Information from external databases
Do not use CanisLattice to evade another site's access restrictions or terms. Users may manually contribute factual information when permitted, but automated scraping, bulk copying, or importing substantial portions of another protected database requires appropriate authorization.
External source links may be stored as references. CanisLattice does not claim affiliation with an outside registry, pedigree archive, testing organization, or database merely because a record links to it.
9. Measurements, health data, and analytical use
Measurements should include dates and source context whenever possible. Estimated or historical adult weights should not be represented as exact dated growth measurements when the measurement date or age is unknown.
Health and genetic results should identify the test or organization where possible and should not be altered to imply a result different from the source record.
Canine data may participate in aggregate comparisons, growth prediction, or model development according to applicable model-data participation settings. CanisLattice may exclude questionable, duplicate, or unsuitable records from analytical use without deleting the underlying historical record.
10. Prohibited contributions
Do not submit intentionally false records, fraudulent ownership claims, malicious personal information, credentials or secrets, unlawful content, abusive material, or content intended to harass another person. Do not use notes or dog profiles as a way to publish private personal disputes.
11. Public visibility
Before making a dog profile public, review the information and photos that will be exposed. Public canine records can be viewed and shared by people who do not have a CanisLattice account. Private contributor identity and administrative information are not intended to be exposed through public dog profiles.
12. Enforcement
CanisLattice may edit visibility, archive records, remove content, restrict contributors, preserve audit history, or take other reasonable action to maintain data quality, protect rights, and enforce these policies.
